How many people who profess to be Christian are truly ready to meet the Lord?

How many are genuinely willing to deny themselves, pick up their cross and follow Him?

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Matthew 16:24

And when he had called the people [unto him] with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Mark 8:34

How many actually understand what these verses are talking about?

If you should lose your job, your car, your home, your spouse, your friends, your family, your health, your insurance, and all of your material belongings then how would you react? How do you ‘think’ you would react? Would you still be praising Jesus? Or might you be blaming and cursing Him for everything that went wrong for you?

I believe that the Lord is testing people. It is easy to praise Jesus when life is going good for you, but the real test of your commitment to the Lord is when your life falls apart and you have no one to run to except for the Lord. I believe there will be many people in the days ahead who will be put through this test.

Denying oneself to follow Jesus means giving up one’s selfish desires and all those unfulfilled dreams we have in life, and to accept the Lord’s will and commission for us.

This, of course, is completely contrary to the teachings of mainstream Christianity which teaches¬† wealth and prosperity, and building an earthly kingdom. The theology of name it and claim it, you deserve everything you can get, you deserve to be rich because you are a child of the King, and trying to hoard everything you can in some kind of sick competitive game of “Who Can Gain the Most Toys” for a heavenly kingdom on this earth is a FALSE THEOLOGY.

Mom and I were once headed down that road to destruction until the Lord grabbed a hold of us and woke us up. The Holy Scriptures indicate to us just the opposite of prosperity. In fact, there are several scriptures which clearly say that the true saints will SUFFER in this life, just as Jesus did (Philippians 1:29).¬† It is NOT the Lord’s will for us to be in poverty and hungry. However, it was never His desire to make us rich with money, fame, or material wealth either.

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10

Everybody, especially unbelievers are familiar with this verse in 1 Timothy, but most people fail to read the end of verse 10 which says that gaining material wealth causes people to fall away from the faith and with it comes MANY SORROWS. People who follow the prosperity gospel are sensuous, lustful, and greedy people. The LORD cannot use people who are not willing to deny themselves- their desires, lusts, wants, dreams.

It is the Lord’s will to provide for us just what we need when we need it. A person cannot rely on the Lord when they are relying on the god of money. There are numerous scriptures that speak about the dangers of material wealth and greed. Please read our prosperity gospel pages for more scriptures.

Anyone who is tied to this world and the things in it have split loyalties because no one can serve two masters (Matthew 6:24, Luke 16:13).

Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Matthew 16:22-23

People who are living by the prosperity greed theology are an OFFENCE to the Lord because they live their lives about the things of men, and not of the Lord. The Lord wants to see us relying on Him and living our lives according to HIS WILL allowing HIM to guide us.

If we suffer, we shall also reign with [him]: if we deny [him], he also will deny us. 2 Timothy 2:12

As we read from this verse in 2 Timothy, it is true believers who will experience suffering. Those who are suffering for the sake of Christ shall have eternal life with the Lord Jesus. Those who are chasing after the things of the world- money, fame, selfish desires, and so forth, are not the children of God and will be denied by Christ. These people have forsaken the Lord for the love of money. There are many scriptures which refer to this but here are two of them.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. Matthew 25:41

Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all [ye] workers of iniquity. Luke 13:26-27

It is Satan who is about the business of offering the world to people and all the things in it. Satan has really become bold in these last days with his efforts to coerce people with lustful desires into following him. He has representatives working through the Order of the Illuminati offering people money and fame with a phone number to call and sign up. The COST for all this? Your soul and eternal damnation. It is Jesus Christ who is offering people eternal life and heavenly things. The cost here is FREE.

The CHOICE is yours alone to make.
