Isn’t it something how people organize and get religious when a celebrity preacher gets ill or gets exposed publicly for some sin?  Without naming names there should be a list of people to come to mind from the last thirty years. Thousands, even millions, of professing Christian people all start praying for their ‘heroes’ who in their eyes never do any wrong. But the average person in this world who is not famous and does not receive television attention gets ignored. When the average person is ill or dying of some fatal cancer these church people don’t care. They shove those people aside like lepers.

Jesus says,

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?  When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. Matthew 25:35-46

The church people say “We do not care about you. You are nobody… this famous person has done ALL these GOOD things. They are way more important than you because they are on tv and you are not. They are a real man (or woman) of God. What did you ever do? “

The Bible says that we are not to flaunt our good works. It is between us and the Lord alone but all we see are a bunch of notables trying to gain popularity and public opinion to get into Heaven. It won’t work.

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

Therefore when thou doest [thine] alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. Matthew 6:1-4

Isn’t it something how these television preachers often visit other countries and take pictures of themselves “appearing” to help people less fortunate than themselves but the people in their own yard they shove aside? They LOVE to WORK to CONVINCE others of what a “good person” they are so they exploit people and children all in the name of making themselves look good. I wonder how they would like to have their own face plastered across the world with some deformity or disease?

I used to be a member of a television ministry where the preacher once exploited a lady at the front of the church. At the time I thought “Aw, this man has compassion for the down and out.” How deceived I was. It was not until much later that I realized just how cruel, insensitive and self-focused that preacher was. What about that woman? Can you imagine how humiliating it must have been for her?

The Bible says that NO ONE will enter Heaven based on “good works.” I would hardly call this kind of activity  of bringing glory to oneself as “good works” but these preachers think they are doing “good works.”

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

Are these verses in Matthew 5 a contradiction? Absolutely not, but apparently people are not reading verse 16 in its’ entire context. When the Bible speaks about the Christian being a “light” in this world it is not talking about making a show of “good works.” The light is the Holy Spirit that dwells in the genuine Christian. When the world sees this person:

  • one who keeps a tamed tongue and does not engage in gossip,
  • one who does not smoke, or drink booze, or do drugs, or wear tattoos, or have piercings all over their body,
  • one who dresses modestly,
  • one who does not go to clubs,
  • one who does not shack up out of wedlock,
  • one who extends themselves to help the down and out that no one else wants anything to do with, the ostracized and hurting,
  • one who is feeding and clothing the stranger without making public announcements,
  • one who is found reading the Word of God or even found keeping a Bible with them at work so they may read on their lunch,
  • one who is kind to all and peaceful but NOT COMPROMISING, and NOT sticking their nose up in the air telling everyone what a great Christian they are and that everyone else is going to hell because they do not belong to their church cult.

When people see this Christian example then they have respect and they like to be around that kind of person. People God is calling will be attracted to your light. People will seek to know what makes you different from others! You will hear people say there is something different about you and I want what you have.

People do not want to see a perfect person or a boastful person. They want to see a genuine person who is not a compromiser or faker, and who has genuine love, compassion and concern for others as Jesus would do.

No matter what some television celebrity does in the secular world or this mainstream counterfeit Christianity, people mindlessly follow. The church is under a spell of blissful ignorance. Television personalities could stand up on world wide television and admit to murdering someone the night before and people would make excuses to justify the behavior and be more loyal to the person than ever before.

People really have to be brain dead to dismiss the obvious dangerous signs. It’s like there are these giant neon signs flashing all around us screaming “WARNING” but few people  have spiritual discernment from the Lord to read the signs.

Final note,

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Colossians 3:16-18
