How many who call themselves “Christian” actually know what the word means?

Once I came out and asked someone this question who had been a culprit behind much gossip about me. Do you know that while this person considered themselves ‘a good Christian’ that when posed with that question they could not really give an answer. Ah, but this person was a regular and active church goer every week, yet the only definition this person could give for being a “Christian” was “to be a good person.”

WRONG ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!

A whole lot of “good people” are in hell right now and a whole many more will end up there. Where does people’s definition of right and wrong, good and evil come from?

The Bible does not say anything about if you are a “good person” then you will go to heaven. The Bible says that we must believe in God’s Son, Jesus Christ and what He did for us on the Cross, and ACCEPT HIM. Read Matthew 10:22, 32-33, Mark 13:13, Mark 16:16, John 3:16, John 14:6, Acts 2:21, Acts 15:11, Romans 10:13.

Romans 12:9-21 tells us how to behave like a Christian.

9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

So in order to be a Christian, there MUST BE a HEART CHANGE! If there is a genuine heart change that has taken place inside of you then you will DESIRE  to live like Christ. If Christ is living in you then His personality and love will naturally exude from the inside out on you. You won’t have to ‘try’ to make it happen. It will just happen. Then you will have the desire to stop the smoking, the dope, the booze. You will feel God’s Holy Spirit nudge you to stop the gossip about others, about shacking up and trying to live like married people when you are not, about fornicating and committing adultery. You will be willing to let go of anything that stands in the way of your personal relationship with the Lord like getting rid of anything in your home that is opposed to your new life in Christ. You will desire to let go of the rock music or any other music that was not acceptable and holy. You will have a new taste in clothes to dress modestly in spite of the latest fads. You will HUNGER to read God’s word from cover to cover and accept the Lord’s convictions with thanksgiving instead of making excuses about the verses that offend you like not marking your body with those dumb, ridiculous looking tattoos.

YOU WILL CHOOSE TO SEPARATE YOURSELF FROM THE WORLD and THE THINGS OF THE WORLD (2 Corinthians 6:17)!

If you are genuinely saved then you are going to be more concerned about reaching out to the lost, the lonely, the hurting, and the poor. You will not be seeking fame, power, money or your own gain. Genuine love is not selfish, but giving, and it is not giving in order to make you look good. You have to be willing to pick up your cross and die to yourself. You have to be willing to let the EGOS and the PRIDE go.

If you call yourself a “Christian” but you are not SEEING these changes in your life then why don’t you get alone in your prayer closet and get it right with God? Ask Him what is keeping you from letting go of all these ungodly things in your life. Tell the Lord that you want Him to help you to let it all go. Walking around trying to live like you see other professing Christian’s live is not the right way. I know. I have been there too. Monkey see, monkey do will only make a monkey out of YOU! When the Lord sounds that trumpet call to come up hither, will you be ready?
